Lead Cashier, Retail

OVERVIEW

Lead Cashier is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the Lead Cashier assists in training new cashiers and cross‑training other associates, demonstrating the ability to collaborate, lead, and influence peers. This position focuses on driving loyalty results, people development, and process compliance.

The Lead Cashier drives loyalty results, promotes guest experience, and ensures compliance with all cashwrap standards and procedures. The role includes generating revenue through sales, support of the loyalty program, and collaboration with the leadership team on cashwrap operations and staffing.

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni‑channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Provide exceptional service by greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, and recommending products and services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Pair guests with associates for makeup, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and guest experience.
• Book appointments for services and support in‑store events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while meeting sales goals.
• Maintain replenishment, organization, and maintenance of all cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures to ensure guest‑readiness.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

• Build an inclusive environment supporting teammates, peers, and guests.
• Support leadership by completing cashier chat ins and outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services and share this knowledge with guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Assist in training new cashiers and cross‑training associates in cashiering.
• Lead peers to achieve peak productivity and performance.
• Drive cashier accountability in delivering a personalized brand experience.
• Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education.
• Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Complete all transactions, including guest returns and associate transactions, and control cash and media per company policies.
• Perform register open and close functions as directed.
• Maintain superior store cleanliness and overall standards.
• Protect company assets and minimize loss through adherence to safety, inventory control, and loss prevention.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• High school diploma preferred.

• 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Proven ability to delegate, multi‑task, and problem‑solve.
• Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and selling.
• Experience addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally.
• Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

• Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices).
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
• Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment, and adapt to ambiguous situations.

• Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Role cannot be held by a minor; minimum age 18.

• Continuous mobility, twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, and reaching.
• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.

Pay range: $14.50 – $19.50 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, shift, location, and business needs. Eligible associates may earn overtime pay as required by law. Full‑time associates are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time associates are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
