We have an exciting opportunity for a part‑time Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Oakwood, a Category C prison located in Wolverhampton. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in the UK, housing over 1,500 men.
Job summaryThis position is a part‑time role (24 hours per week), with two 12‑hour shifts (7am–8pm, days to be agreed, no weekends). The role is full‑time equivalent for salary purposes.
Responsibilities- Work within a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions.
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
- Deliver nurse‑led clinics to your patient group while being supported by a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Provide outstanding evidence‑based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
- Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference.
- Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders.
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
- Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Registered nurse Adult - NMC.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
- A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
- Excellent communication skills.
Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable but not essential.
Salary and hoursAnnual salary (full‑time equivalent) £35,578.00; pro‑rota salary £22,770.00.
Hours:
24 hours per week (2 × 12‑hour shifts, 7am‑8pm), no weekends. Days to be agreed.
