Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to serve as a Middle School Math/Science Teacher. This position is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in mathematics and science while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity. The ideal candidate will create a supportive classroom environment that meets the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of middle school learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver effective, standards-aligned lessons in mathematics and science
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and support differentiated learning
- Foster inquiry-based learning and hands-on experiences in science and real-world problem solving in math
- Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and grades
- Create a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and collaboration
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and needs
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and interdisciplinary staff to support student success
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction and learning
- Participate in professional development and continuous improvement efforts
- Support school initiatives, programs, and extracurricular activities as appropriate
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field
- Valid state teaching license/certification for middle school Math and/or Science
- Strong knowledge of middle school curriculum and instructional best practices
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Effective classroom management skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience teaching middle school students
- Endorsements or certifications in both Math and Science
- Experience with differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
- Familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning tools
- Knowledge of social-emotional learning practices
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to supervise students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, labs, and common areas
- School-based setting with daily interaction with students, staff, and families
- Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and adaptability
- Exposure to typical classroom and laboratory materials and equipment
- Occasional evening or after-school responsibilities (e.g., conferences, events, extracurriculars)
