Findlay City Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered 1st Grade Teacher to help young learners develop foundational academic skills, social-emotional growth, and a love of learning. Under the guidance of the building principal, you will create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
As a member of our educational team, you will deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction while fostering a classroom culture grounded in Excellence, Opportunity, and Belonging.
Essential Functions
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Implement district-approved curriculum and evidence-based instructional strategies that promote academic growth and student engagement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities, English learners, and those needing enrichment.
- Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Support social-emotional learning, responsible citizenship, and a positive classroom culture.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student learning, behavior, and goals.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, intervention specialists, and support staff to enhance instruction and student outcomes.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school initiatives.
- Support and enforce school and district policies and procedures.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or district administration.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Knowledge of current instructional strategies for early elementary learners.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools.
- Effective communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for elementary grades (K-5).
- Prior teaching experience in early elementary grades preferred.
- Master's degree, reading endorsement, or early literacy training preferred but not required.
