Position Title Anthropology Instructor (part-time) - Cultural
- Teach classes in Anthropology, adhering to the stated course objectives, content and delivery.
- Facilitate student learning and participate in efforts to improve student success. Assess learning outcomes and teaching effectiveness; uphold ethical standards of the profession.
- Where applicable, maintain licensure and certifications.
- Master’s degree in Anthropology from a regionally accredited institution.
- Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy.
- Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style; understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
- Language
Skills:
ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports and respond to questions from groups. - Mathematical
Skills:
ability to apply concepts and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. - Reasoning Ability: ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

ability to integrate computer applications into teaching. - Other
Skills and Abilities:
ability to apply current research and theory to instructional program; establish collegial relationships; strong oral and written communication. - A foreign degree must be certified, at the candidate’s expense, by a professional evaluation service.
- Demonstrated successful higher education teaching experience.
- Experience utilizing technology to enhance teaching (online/digital resources & course management software, Canvas).
- Move about 2/3 of the time; stationary about 1/3; travel around campus for activities.
- Regularly converse with individuals; read, analyze and interpret needs via various communication methods.
- Utilize all programs on a computer independently and efficiently (internet, Word, student database).
- Present information in instructional settings and respond to questions from groups.
- If applicable, tolerate exposure to chemicals common to the industry; wear PPE as required.
Specific Teaching Assignment:
Teach “Introduction to Cultural Anthropology” on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 1:30pm–2:50pm at Southern Lakes Branch Campus; and Mondays/Wednesdays from 1:35pm–3:00pm at Goodrich High School. Potential for additional section needs. Part-time faculty are not required to hold regular office hours, but must provide for student consultations as necessary and reasonable.
- Must be available to teach onsite; online-only teaching is not available.
- Selected candidates may need to provide a professional portfolio; specific instructions will be shared prior to the interview.
- Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Selected candidates must submit to a drug test and criminal background check.
