Job Goal
Responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program for students through curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programs, while ensuring that all procedures are followed to maintain safety and security and to meet federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Monitor, assist, supervise, and support students in the classroom and on campus throughout the school day, before school, and after school as directed.Maintain a student-centered learning environment that is safe, organized, equitable, flexible, inclusive, and collaborative and accommodates the differing needs of students.Foster a culture of high expectations for all students by promoting the importance of education and each student's capacity for academic achievement.Collaborate with school and District staff to design, prepare, and implement varied educational materials, lesson plans, media, and technology that enable all students to participate in high-quality communication interactions and achieve their educational goals in alignment with state-adopted standards that take into consideration varying aspects of rigor and complexity.Utilize a comprehensive knowledge of the subject taught to deliver engaging and challenging lessons and to enrich students' understanding through content area literacy strategies, verbalization of thought, and application of the subject matter.Differentiate instruction based on an assessment of student learning needs and recognition of individual differences in students by identifying gaps in students' subject matter knowledge and applying varied instructional strategies and resources to provide comprehensible instruction and teach for student understanding.Implement student 504s and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as necessary under the guidance of the applicable school and District staff; ensure all students' needs are being met appropriately.Design, prepare and implement curriculum for English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in collaboration with District staff.Demonstrate a breadth of subject matter knowledge using the current references, materials, and technologies of the subject field, and provide instruction, follow-up, and review of material in a comprehensible manner that enables students to approach and interrelate topics from a variety of perspectives, interests, and points of view.Monitor student behavior using positive behavior supports, maintain discipline in accordance with required disciplinary policies and procedures, and enforce rules, regulations, the student code of conduct, and District policies to foster safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and other members of the school community.Assign, grade, and evaluate student work, administer appropriate assessments, evaluate student comprehension and progress on a regular basis, and provide appropriate feedback to students, staff, and parents/guardians as an ongoing evaluation process.Design and utilize a variety of formative and summative assessments that match learning objectives and lead to mastery while ensuring that all assessments align with established standards and requirements.Record, prepare, and maintain progress reports, report cards, data regarding behavior and health status, and other required reports; ensure confidentiality is maintained, as required by federal, state, and District policies.Maintain open lines of communication with students and parent(s)/guardian(s) regarding student progress and information and attend parent/guardian and teacher conferences as required to support student learning and continuous improvement.Refer students to the appropriate personnel when evaluation or follow-up services as required; provide information to students and parents/guardians as requested.Administer District, local, state, and federal testing for students and ensure all rules and regulations are upheld and that testing conditions are modified as appropriate to accommodate learning needs; notify appropriate personnel when this does not occur.Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and utilize a variety of…
