Under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant
, Police Officers are responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing federal, state, and municipal laws, preventing crime, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, conducting investigations, and maintaining positive relationships with residents and businesses. This position requires sound judgment, professionalism, integrity, and the ability to perform effectively in routine, high-risk, and high-stress environments.

- Starting pay: $26.54 per hour
- Annual salary range: $55,203 – $67,850+
- Merit increases:
Up to 3% annually - Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA):
Up to 2.5% annually
Incentives include:
- $5,000 State of Florida recruitment bonus for newly certified officers or officers relocating to Florida (if eligible)
- $2,500 sign-on bonus upon successful completion of all Field Training requirements
- Experience pay (based on prior verified sworn service)
- Education incentives:
- State incentive up to $1,440 annually
- Florida Retirement System (FRS) with pension or investment options, transferable to any FRS employer

Applicants with qualifying out-of-state or federal full-time sworn law enforcement experience within the past eight years may be eligible for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Equivalency of Training (EOT) pathway.
Out-of-state certified officers may also be eligible for FDLE Temporary Employment Authorization (Form 65), with completion of the EOT process required within six (6) months.
Applicants must obtain CJSTC Form 76 prior to attending an FDLE-approved EOT Course.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Minimum QualificationsApplicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officer or eligible for FDLE Equivalency of Training (CJSTC Form 76)
- Out-of-state certified officers eligible for FDLE Temporary Employment Authorization (Form 65)
- High school diploma or GED (college degree preferred)
- United States citizen
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 45 days
- Good verifiable work history
- Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English
- No felony convictions
- No misdemeanors involving moral turpitude, false statements, perjury, or domestic violence
- No dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces
- Vision of 20/40 corrected or better
- Good physical condition
