HDR is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services Group in the Walnut Creek or Folsom, CA office. You will be responsible for the electrical design of facilities across markets including Data Center, Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal. You will coordinate with a multidisciplinary design team through the project life cycle—from planning to construction documents and construction administration.
You will develop construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, and review shop drawings during construction. You should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with initiative to deliver high-quality, technically sound electrical designs.
- Perform, plan, direct, and monitor the electrical design on large institutional/industrial projects through schematic design development and contract document phase
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
- Coordinate electrical team staffing and workload to complete the project on schedule
- Conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines
- Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
- Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
- Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and incorporate changes into project documents
- Provide construction contract administration as needed
- Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
- Perform other duties as needed
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- Working familiarity with Revit MEP
- Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED
- Masters degree
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software
