Position: FGHS Summer School Peer Tutor. This position runs from June 18 – July 17, 2026 (Monday‑Thursday). Duty days 8:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (5 hours per day).

Job Description

The Summer School Peer Tutor works with high‑school students one‑on‑one or in small groups to help students meet proficiency on Essential Standards. The tutor reports to the assigned classroom teacher and follows the teacher’s directions for assisting students. The position reports to the classroom teacher, administrators, and does not supervise any employees.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide academic support to students
  • Create a welcoming environment for support
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other peer tutors
Other Responsibilities
  • Confers regularly with the classroom teacher
  • Maintain consistent and predictable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Successful completion of 10th or 11th grade by the end of the 2025‑2026 school year
  • Experience:

    Prior tutoring experience preferred. Experience and training in assisting others. Experience working with culturally diverse students.
  • Skills:

    Excellent oral, written communication, interpersonal skills. Excellent organization skills. Ability to use English in verbal and written form with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
    Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Knowledge:
    Knowledge and experience in Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and ability to explain concepts to other students.
  • Abilities:
    Work harmoniously with others. Work independently without supervision. Physical ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods, lift, etc.
Continuing Education/Training & Clearances

Pre‑employment criminal justice fingerprint clearance and criminal background check.

Physical Requirements
  • Stand/Walk: 3–5 hours
  • Sit: 3–5 hours
  • Drive: 1–3 hours
  • Use of hands: single grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation
  • Feet not used for foot controls
  • Bend: frequently
  • Squat: frequently
  • Climb Stairs: occasionally
  • Lift: frequently 25–50 pounds; maximum 50 pounds
Benefits

Hourly wage: $16.30 per hour. Temporary position.
