Financial Consultant
The position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, delivering the full breadth of personal financial counseling to service members and families. Services include education and counseling on financial matters, one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals. The role coordinates with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program aligns with scope and meets installation needs.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and provide informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34).
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web‑based, secure online chat, or video‑based communications, authorized by OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information on trends and issues.
- Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
These duties are representative and not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish may be required by contract.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Successful completion of the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Certification:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

- Salary Maximum: $93,500
Salary may adjust based on experience, education, and other factors. The position may offer short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
