Overview
The Consultant, Tax Consulting Engineer is a strategic role that supports multifamily and commercial development projects through engineering analysis, energy consulting, and tax incentive optimization. This position combines technical expertise with financial strategy to help clients maximize available tax credits, rebates, and sustainability incentives while improving overall project feasibility and long‑term building performance.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze building performance during pre‑construction and development phases.
- Conduct energy modeling and energy cost analyses.
- Perform commercial building energy audits.
- Prepare compliance and certification reports.
- Collaborate with developers, building owners, public entities, architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities that increase energy efficiency, resilience, and sustainability while maintaining financial viability.
- Provide data‑driven recommendations to reduce operational costs, enhance building performance, and support compliance with energy and sustainability programs.
- Strong analytical capabilities and technical knowledge of commercial building systems.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships in a fast‑paced consulting environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
- Preferred:
Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Must hold a four‑year engineering college degree in a practice‑relevant area with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
Technical SkillsBasic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and internet research.
Certifications & LicensesValid driver’s license required.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesLimited supervisory duties, including training peers and verifying work accuracy and completeness.
Work EnvironmentStandard indoor environment with occasional long periods of sitting or standing at a computer and copy machine. Regular interaction with employees and clients in person and via email or telephone.
Travel RequirementsIndependent travel up to 30% of the time.
