Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108‑bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan and fully accredited by The Joint Commission. The facility has more than 45 years of experience in evaluating, diagnosing and treating a wide range of behavioral health problems.

We are seeking qualified applicants for a Psych RN – Weekend Days shift
.

The Psych RN provides nursing care to patients on each clinical unit as assigned, utilizing the nursing process. The patient population includes both adolescents and adults. Patients are hospitalized for a broad variety of psychiatric disorders, including mood, anxiety and thought disorders, and may require treatment in specialty programs for trauma, eating disorders and dual diagnosis (both substance abuse and psychiatric issues).

• Promotes a warm and welcoming environment when paired with newly hired RNs, providing training, guidance and support that is consistent with patient care, safety standards and policy and procedure. Responds to questions in a respectful manner and reports concerns promptly when identified.
• Acts as back‑up point of contact for direction of other unit staff members when charge is unavailable.
• Provides leadership to other personnel in crisis behavioral management.
• Utilizing the nursing process, the RN develops an initial nursing treatment plan for each admitted patient.
• Competent in assessing, planning and delivering care for patients with co‑occurring disorders, eating disorders and trauma backgrounds.
• Directs and participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Assists with discharge planning and works with the patient at the time of discharge.

This is a part‑time, 24 hours a week position (12‑hour shifts – 7:00 am‑7:30 pm).

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• 6–12 months of previous psych nursing experience preferred, demonstrating a strong understanding of the unit they will be assisting in leadership.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Michigan.
• Demonstrates clinical competency in providing general nursing care and a basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory.
• CPR/Handle With Care certification preferred.
