Fort Smith, AR – Floating Plant Help Desk Technician (3rd Shift)

Work ScheduleM‑F, Sat as needed (10:00 PM – 7:00 AM). Requires flexible schedule and participation in 24/7 on‑call rotation across Fort Smith, Muldrow, and Heavener.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Configure and install client equipment for end users—including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, MFPs, projectors, TVs, desk phones, and cell phones.
- Assist other IT areas with installation and troubleshooting of servers, switches, routers, wireless access points, UPS, and security cameras.
- Support third‑party vendors with plant‑specific computer systems.
- Replace or install network cable between offices and network cabinets.
- Troubleshoot all issues with client devices and software, including Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and various applications.
- Routinely upgrade software and operating systems with latest security patches.
- Document hardware locations and configurations in the IT inventory system.
- Use the Help Desk ticket system to track support requests.
- Review and document all changes or new processes in the IT knowledgebase system.
- Travel and work within office areas, poultry plant, and feed plant locations.
- Requires a flexible schedule to support Fort Smith, Muldrow, and Heavener facilities 24/7 and participate in an on‑call rotation.
- Will be trained in the use of a scissor lift to aid in support.
- This is a safety‑sensitive position.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- Associate degree or equivalent, or 6‑12 months of related experience.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operational instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspond effectively.
- Apply basic algebra and geometry; perform calculations of figures, percentages, and volumes.
- Use common sense to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions and solve problems with several concrete variables.
- Valid driver’s license and qualify for the company driver program.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Office, PC, printer, and networking hardware.
- Two or more years of help desk experience before promotion consideration.
- Positive, helpful attitude and ability to work independently.
- Compliance with company policies and procedures.
Frequent use of hands, reaching, lifting up to 50 lb; occasional standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
Work EnvironmentExposure to radiation risk, wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock. Noise level is usually moderate.
