Aquent is proud to partner with a pioneering company at the forefront of autonomous mobility, dedicated to revolutionizing transportation through advanced electric vehicle technology, powertrain systems, and next-generation mobility solutions. Our client is driven by an action-biased culture that values integrity, humility, competence, and a deep passion for advancing the future of transportation.
Are you ready to support the development of advanced electric vehicle powertrain systems? We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to join a dynamic Powertrain Systems team supporting high-voltage battery servicing, high-voltage R&D, electrical systems testing, and development-phase lab operations.
In this role, you will prepare, build, troubleshoot, service, and repair electrical test hardware and powertrain-related systems at the component level. This is a highly hands-on position for someone with strong high-voltage and low-voltage safety knowledge, automotive or electric vehicle experience, component repair skills, and the ability to work in a fast-moving R&D environment where priorities can shift quickly.
The ideal candidate is flexible, resourceful, safety-minded, and comfortable supporting last-minute requests, changing priorities, and cross-functional engineering needs in a development-phase environment.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare, build, and troubleshoot testing hardware for electrical engineering systems at the component level.
- Perform approved high-voltage enable and disable procedures in a safe and methodical manner.
- Support high-voltage battery servicing, teardown, testing, and analysis activities.
- Support high-voltage R&D efforts related to electric vehicle powertrain and battery systems.
- Repair, update, and modify electrical components and test hardware as needed.
- Make, update, and repair wire harnesses for electric vehicles in various stages of development.
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop test systems that support engineering needs.
- Perform firmware updates on embedded hardware systems in both lab and field environments.
- Support lab operations by maintaining inventory, clear work spaces, test equipment, tools, and calibration schedules.
- Use test and measurement equipment to support diagnostics, troubleshooting, validation, and engineering investigations.
- Carry out servicing and repair operations safely after training and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Adapt quickly to shifting priorities, last-minute requests, and evolving needs common in a development-phase engineering environment.
- Support root cause analysis efforts by helping diagnose failures, document findings, and communicate issues to engineering teams.
Must-Have
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience related to automotive wire harnesses, electric vehicle systems, high-voltage battery systems, power electronics, or a similar technical environment.
- Associate degree, trade school certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in mechatronics, electronics, automotive technology, electrical systems, or a related field.
- Experience working with high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
- High-voltage and low-voltage safety training.
- Hands-on experience repairing electrical components, power electronics, test hardware, or related systems.
- Ability to safely support high-voltage battery servicing, testing, teardown, or analysis activities.
- Experience building, modifying, repairing, or manufacturing wire harnesses.
- Ability to solder, crimp, strip, and fabricate harnesses.
- Ability to read wire harness drawings, electrical schematics, circuit lists, product documentation, and work instructions.
- Experience using diagnostic processes to troubleshoot electrical or vehicle system issues.
- Experience with test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, DAQ systems, power supplies, e-loads, sensors, thermocouples, or similar equipment.
- Comfortable working in an R&D or development-phase environment with shifting priorities and occasional last-minute requests.
