The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment for advanced semiconductor production. Technical writers play a critical role in enabling on-time delivery of new products by collaborating closely with engineering teams to develop, review, and release high-quality documentation required for product shipment and customer delivery. In addition, technical writers help address safety-related issues and customer escalations, often under urgent timelines.

This ensures accurate and compliant documentation is available to support safe product use in the field and directly contributes to customer satisfaction and successful product adoption.

The technical writer in this position is responsible for creating and editing technical procedures and manuals for Lam internal and external customers. This regular full‑time position will be based in Fremont, California, and the writer will work closely with engineers, core writing staff, and cross‑functional teams across Lam Research’s global regions.

Primary responsibilities:

• Create and thoroughly edit technical procedures and manuals for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with engineers and core writing staff to finalize procedures using Microsoft Word.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of technical content.
• Create product manuals in the Content Management System (CMS).
• Obtain information from engineering sources, edit the information for accuracy and completeness, and incorporate it into procedures.
• Attend and contribute to content team meetings, and provide status and plans for future deliverables.

The ideal candidate for this position must have the following:

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in one of the following fields of study:
  Technical Writing, English, Communications, or Journalism
• Note:
  
  A different degree (for example, an engineering degree) is acceptable but excellent writing skills are required.
• Minimum of 2 years of writing or editing experience
• The following mandatory skills and experience:
  • Strong English language skills (this is a MUST have)
  • Work experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • The following personal skills:
    • Excellent editing and writing skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to work well in a team environment

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $72,000.00 - $.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
