Responsibilities- Reliable and punctual attendance; expected to be at job as scheduled each day.
- Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
- Perform physical and mental assessment of hospital and emergency room patients.
- Initiate proper emergency care.
- Notify physician and family upon admission and report significant changes during hospitalization.
- Receive and carry out physician’s orders.
- Assist physicians with medical procedures.
- Ensure safety and correctly perform all nursing procedures within scope of practice.
- Know medication dosages, routes, and actions.
- Carefully administer prescribed medication.
- Reorder and stock supplies and medications as needed.
- Observe universal precautions, follow guidelines and policies.
- Recognize, initiate, and observe special precautions.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Identify patient needs, plan and implement care.
- Assist with patient mobility, hygiene, and ADLs.
- Ensure all records required for admission, consent, discharge, etc. are completed.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of assessments, vital signs, observations, and events.
- Remain courteous, while promoting healing and a holistic approach to patient care.
- Provide formal and informal teaching to patients, families, and staff within scope of practice.
- Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from an accredited school of nursing; or equivalent diploma or degree.
- Current unrestricted State of Colorado RN license in good standing.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS. Must obtain TNCC within 3 months of hire.
- Minimum one year of ER experience required.
