In this role you serve as a key liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring projects are planned, designed, and executed successfully from initiation through completion. You are responsible for identifying customer project needs, developing constructable work orders, and coordinating project activities throughout the project lifecycle.

- Develop and prepare construction plans, drawings, circuit maps, and electrical distribution plans; identify necessary resources, provide cost estimates, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, rates, and completion dates.
- Perform calculations relevant to design with the latest SCE standards and request studies through Engineering when necessary.
- Interact with a diverse customer base to meet electrical design needs, delivering successful outcomes for customers and SCE.
- Participate in small to medium‑size residential, commercial, and industrial projects; determine scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for distribution overhead and underground facilities.

- Provide technical support to licensing and certification proceedings related to new distribution/transmission lines and substation sites.
- Stay up to date with current industry practices, standards, and customer needs.
- Identify environmental requirements and coordinate required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and external sources.
- Support project drawings and budget by monitoring internal and external customer timelines and expectations.
- Manage multiple projects using project management principles, tools, and techniques under tight time constraints and shifting priorities, making critical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Manage project risks, resolve issues, and handle escalations impacting scope, timeline, and budget, including work order pricing.
- Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to planning, development review, and verify compliance with approved plans.
- Ensure protection of physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and properly access and manage private customer data and other highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
- One or more years of experience in electrical utility distribution/transmission/telecommunication design, line construction, or an engineering discipline.
- Possess a valid Class C driver’s license.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
- Experience with design tools such as CAD, GIS, or similar systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in customer service, project coordination, or similar support roles.
- Training or education applying technical information (engineering, pole loading, drafting, construction, mapping, math, science, IT).
- Ability to read or create simple distribution or technical drawings.
- Ability to adapt to competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams (clients, peers, management, agencies).
- Completion of a Planner Utility Certification Program.
- Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in a technical, construction, or utility environment, including providing clear information, addressing inquiries, and coordinating solutions.
- The work mode is hybrid. Employees report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in California unless otherwise noted.
