About Us

Inspection Experts Inc. (IEI) is a global leader in providing a comprehensive range of facilities support services, construction management, and environmental safety and health (EHS) services to federal, state, and commercial clients. We pride ourselves on executing complex contracts with the highest levels of operational excellence, compliance, and safety.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and credentialed Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to provide dedicated occupational health and safety support for a federal contract. In this role, you will play a critical part in anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards across various federal client facilities, which may include research laboratories, administrative offices, and agricultural field sites. You will serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) to ensure compliance with OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and USDA-specific EHS directives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hazard Assessment & Mitigation:
Conduct comprehensive industrial hygiene (IH) surveys, indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments, noise level surveys, and ergonomic evaluations at USDA facilities.
  • Laboratory & Biological Safety:
Evaluate workplace exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards—specifically tailoring assessments to the unique environments of USDA research centers (e.g., Agricultural Research Service [ARS] or Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service [APHIS] facilities).
  • Program Management:
Develop, implement, and audit occupational health programs, including Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communication (Haz Com), and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) programs.
  • Ventilation & Engineering Controls:
Evaluate and test the effectiveness of engineering controls, including laboratory chemical fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, and local exhaust ventilation systems.
  • Technical Reporting:
Prepare highly detailed, accurate, and actionable technical reports documenting survey findings, exposure levels, and recommended corrective actions or engineering controls.
  • Compliance & Advisory:
Serve as the primary IH advisor to USDA facility managers and safety officers. Ensure strict adherence to OSHA regulations, NIOSH guidelines, and internal USDA safety policies.
  • Training:
Develop and deliver specialized EHS and industrial hygiene training to USDA personnel and contractor staff.
Qualifications
  • Required Certification:
Must hold an active Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential in good standing with the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) / formerly ABIH.
  • Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Public Health, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Experience:

Minimum of 5–7 years of professional experience as an Industrial Hygienist. Previous experience supporting federal agencies (especially USDA, EPA, or NIH) and working in laboratory/research environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge:
Expert-level understanding of federal OSHA regulations, NIOSH sampling methods, ACGIH TLVs, and biological/chemical hazard controls.
  • Clearance:
Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain a federal Public Trust (or higher) clearance for site access.
  • Skills:

Excellent analytical, technical writing, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be physically able to conduct field assessments, which may involve walking, standing, and carrying testing equipment.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid federal holidays.
  • Maintenance fees and continuing education support for CIH credentialing.
