This position is for the UNM‑Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.
University of New Mexico‑Gallup Branch, Mathematics, Business, Science, and Technology Division anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face‑to‑face and/or develop lower division courses (100‑2000 level) in the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters in the following anticipated potential disciplines:
Mathematics- Pre‑Algebra – Math 099
- Introduction to Algebra – MATH 100
- Intermediate Algebra – MATH 1215
- College Algebra – MATH 1220
- Mathematics for Teachers I – MATH 1110
- Mathematics for Elementary and Middle School Teachers I – MATH 1118
- Mathematics for Middle School Teachers – MATH 2115
- Mathematics for Elementary and Middle School Teachers III – MATH 2118
- Trigonometry – MATH 1230
- Pre‑Calculus – MATH 1240
- Application Calculus I – MATH 1430
- Calculus I – MATH 1512
- Calculus II – MATH 1522
- Calculus III – MATH 2530
- Introduction to Statistics – MATH 1350
UNM Gallup is a two‑year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. The university established branch colleges to provide high quality education to students in different locations throughout the state, addressing the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of each community with community‑focused programs, career and technical education, certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer pathways.
The Math, Business, Science, and Technology Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seeking qualified temporary part‑time faculty members to teach lower division classes in the courses listed above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching, including but not limited to meeting face‑to‑face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings or weekends, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the division chair.
WagesAdjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads.
Best Consideration DatesFor best consideration please apply by these dates:
July 04, 2026 for Fall 2026 semesters;
November 14, 2026 for Spring 2027 semester.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying.
- A master’s degree or higher in a discipline other than that for which you are applying, and successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD, ABD, or EdD in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field.
- At least one (1) year of successful teaching experience at the community college level.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.
