This position is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch, Math, Business, Science, and Technology Division anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or develop lower division courses (1000 - 2000 level) in the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters in the following anticipated potential disciplines:

• General Biology with Lab - BIOL 1110/1110L
• Biology for Health Sciences with Lab - BIOL 1140/1140L
• Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab - BIOL 1310/1310L
• Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab - BIOL 1320/1320L
• Human Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab - BIOL 2210/2210L
• Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab - BIOL 2225/2225L
• Microbiology for Health Sciences - BIOL 2305

• General Chemistry I STEM Majors with Lab - CHEM 1215/1215L
• General Chemistry II STEM Majors with Lab - CHEM 1225/1225L
• Introduction to Chemistry for Non-Majors Lecture and Laboratory - CHEM 1120C
• Integrated Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry - CHEM 2120

• The Blue Planet with Lab - ENVS 1130/1130L

• Physical Geology with Lab - GEOL 1110/1110L

• Survey of Physics with Lab - PHYS 1115/1115L
• Algebra-Based Physics I - PHYS 1230/1230L
• Algebra-Based Physics II - PHYS 1240/1240L

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. The University of New Mexico established branch colleges to provide the highest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary education at different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respective communities by offering community education programs, career and technical education including certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students for upper-division entry into colleges and universities.

UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meeting face-to-face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings or weekends, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the division chair.

Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying.
• A master’s degree or higher in a discipline other than that for which you are applying, and successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD, ABD, or EdD in disciple or subfield for which you are applying.
• At least one year of successful teaching experience at the community college level.
• A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.
