Job Summary

Responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, staging, transporting, and otherwise handling products that come into and move out of the warehouse. The position requires working cooperatively with other associates and productively with little supervision. Individuals must follow U.S. Lumber safety policies and procedures at all times.

Essential Functions
  • Safely operate forklift and other machinery
  • Band, wrap, tape product
  • Maintain work area and be organized
  • Respond to public address system announcements, directions from supervisors and managers, and warning alarms from other forklift drivers
  • Walk and carry merchandise
  • Maintain great attention to detail and accuracy – be able to stand and work on your feet throughout the shift
  • Identify and read tickets, SKUs, UPC labels and reports
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Work in a team environment
  • Be able to bend, stoop, reach, twist, squat, push, pull, move, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned

Job Requirements
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items – consistently lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Respond to public address system announcements, directions from supervisors and managers, and warning alarms from other forklift drivers
  • Walk and carry merchandise – move around the warehouse to assist others or move merchandise themselves
  • Identify and read tickets, SKUs, UPC labels and reports – recognize and use necessary reports
  • Grip equipment or hand tools as required
Environmental

Job Requirements
  • Temporary cracks may appear in the floor due to forklifts and other heavy equipment, causing uneven walking surfaces
  • Warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy
  • Fluctuations of temperature are common with occasional outdoor exposure during the workday
  • Wet floors may occur during rainy or snowy weather or during cleaning activities
  • Sharp and/or rough edges will typically be encountered
  • Warehouse equipment and treated lumber may emit fumes
  • Some equipment may require electric voltage
  • Role uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers

Required Credentials
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year warehouse distribution experience
  • Prior lumber experience desired; engineered lumber experience preferred
  • Forklift experience and certification preferred but not required
  • Basic math and analytical skills
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Team lead/shift supervisor experience preferred
  • Self‑starter, proactive and able to take initiative
