Dining Services Repair Technician
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, performing general building maintenance tasks, and conducting preventative maintenance for kitchen equipment and dining facilities. Daily work orders are assigned by the Maintenance Foreman and status updates are reported through service reports. If needed, work orders will be submitted to the Facilities Management Division for tasks beyond the scope of this position.
- Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training.
- Technical skills for troubleshooting commercial kitchen equipment using schematics and manuals.
- Basic plumbing, electrical work, and general maintenance skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with staff and customer groups.
- Capable of working both independently and as a team member, making effective decisions and following through on assignments.
- Proficiency in using computer applications for task completion.
- 60% Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment using schematics and manuals.
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on all commercial kitchen equipment.
- Maintain and complete service reports and parts order forms.
- 25% Perform a wide variety of mechanical and building trade tasks in the maintenance and repair of Dining Services facilities, including plumbing, electrical work, painting, simple construction and fabrication.
- Inspect and conduct preventative maintenance for all Dining facilities.
- Submit work orders to the Facilities Management Division when necessary.
- 5% Assist with special building and equipment maintenance projects.
- 5% Participate in training sessions, departmental meetings, and provide feedback to improve policies.
- 5% Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Climb stairs and ladders; work from ladders or scaffolds.
- Bend at the waist and knees.
- Work with arms and hands overhead for extended periods.
- Use, care for, and maintain hand tools and power tools.
- Navigate confined spaces, crawling in utility tunnels, attics, pipe chases, etc.
- Lift and move items up to 75 pounds both assisted and unassisted.
- Occasionally perform outdoor work in hot or cold temperatures.
- Operate a UGA state vehicle as necessary.

Salary: $31,500-$40,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
