Job Purpose: Under the direction and training of the Heavy Equipment Fuel Lube Service Tech, this apprentice position helps to service and maintain heavy construction equipment both in a field and a shop environment.
Roles, Duties, & Responsibilities- Works the evening shifts and/or flexible schedules to work on equipment.
- Travels to various job sites with the Heavy Equipment Fuel Lube Service Tech to repair necessary equipment.
- Fuel and perform preventive maintenance services on various types of heavy construction equipment.
- Performs duties in an expedient and professional manner and maintains open communication with the shop and field.
- Works both in a field and a shop environment.
- Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies, procedures, and instructions from management.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Knowledge of machine maintenance procedures.
- Able to retrieve uncontaminated oil samples.
- Must have the ability to read and understand service manuals.
- Ability to operate equipment well enough to determine proper operation.
- Ability to effectively communicate and follow directions.
- Works in dusty and/or dirty surroundings and practices good safety habits.
- Communicates effectively and maintains good problem resolution.
- Follows instructions and makes decisions based on verifiable standards.
- Demonstrates attentive and active listening skills and learns quickly on the job.
- Approaches work in a meticulous, thorough, and detailed manner.
- Prioritizes work to meet goals or deadlines.
- Must possess a clean driver's license record; AND
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements; AND
- Minimum 6 months experience in a related field; OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
