Job Description
Field Service Technician II responsible for testing, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing packaging machinery across various trades. Requires experience with secondary packaging equipment, PLC communications, and program modification.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, identify, and troubleshoot industrial packaging equipment.
- Execute installation, maintenance, and repair work and lead installation crews.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Provide face‑to‑face and phone customer service, maintaining open communication and trust.
- Identify and participate in sales opportunities (maintenance plans, retrofits, spare‑parts kits, replacement equipment).
- Provide service reports, quotes, inventory, and expense reports to the service manager.
- Document, label, and return defective parts.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Work with local and national teams to deliver efficient service.
- Supervise and train junior maintenance staff.
- Perform film audits and resolve film issues.
- Lead a team or work independently as required.
- Complete factory certification courses as dictated by the Field Service Training Program.
- Manage service time effectively.
- Maintain up‑to‑date driver’s license, registration, insurance, and a good driving record.
- Drive a forklift and use a smartphone/related applications.
- Supply and maintain own tools, test equipment, and calibrations, keeping parts secure.
- Lift and carry a toolbox weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Associate’s degree or higher in mechanical or electrical field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in secondary packaging equipment.
- PLC experience; ability to write simple logic, interface with equipment, and modify programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Salesforce CRM.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Self‑motivated with ability to lead and work independently.
- Willingness to travel and work out of town up to 75% of the time.
The pay range for this role is $65,000–$75,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, geography, and other factors.
