School Caretaker – Full Time

Teacher Active is proud to be working with a welcoming and well‑respected primary school based in Bristol. The school is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive School Caretaker on a full‑time, long‑term basis, leading to a permanent position for the right candidate. The successful applicant will be responsible for the day‑to‑day maintenance, security and presentation of the school site, ensuring that all facilities are safe, functional and fit for purpose. This is a varied role that will involve carrying out basic repairs, liaising with contractors, conducting health and safety checks and supporting the wider school community.

The role will be paramount in ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the school whilst helping to create a positive and professional environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day maintenance, security and presentation of the school site; ensuring facilities are safe, functional and fit for purpose; carrying out basic repairs; liaising with contractors; conducting health and safety checks; supporting the wider school community.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a caretaker, site manager, facilities or maintenance role.
  • Basic DIY and maintenance skills across a range of trades.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and site security.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Strong problem‑solving and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting the needs of the school.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
