Registered Nurse, Hematology – Oncology Night

City of Hope invites an experienced Registered Nurse to provide oncology night shift care for patients with blood cancers. The role requires strong nursing skills, including medication administration, aseptic technique, and advanced patient monitoring.

• Assess and recognize normal or abnormal responses to treatment and institute appropriate interventions.
• Communicate effectively to manage complex patient and family needs.
• Deliver designated nursing interventions consistent with the medical plan of care.
• Administer medications via all routes using the six rights, medication bar scanner, and monitor patients for side effects.
• Provide nursing leadership to non‑licensed staff by prescribing and coordinating nursing care for optimal patient outcomes.
• Read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal or abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions within six months of hire.
• Complete Basic Electrocardiogram (ECG) course in the online learning management system.
• Administer chemotherapeutic and immunotherapeutic agents through the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) protocol.
• Complete ONS Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) course within three months of hire.
• Apply principles of aseptic technique and perform or assist with isolation procedures and infection control measures.
• Care for patients with IV lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters, tracheostomy tubes, and ostomy or urostomy devices.
• Assist in the care, assessment, and monitoring of patients with Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters.

• Minimum one year of inpatient chemotherapy experience with blood cancers.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent and valid Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Compact State license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from an approved American Heart Association (AHA), American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross; required upon hire and renewed every two years.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification; must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed every two years; ACLS for patients will not be provided independently until certification is obtained.
• ONC/Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Card within 30 days of hire and renewed every two years.
