Design and construction of a virtual power plant for training and demonstration
Solvina have developed software models of the most common type of turbines and governors as well as testing equipment to analyse the dynamic performance of power plants while connected to the power grid. This thesis work is aimed at the construction of a virtual power plant including some of the most common signals for monitoring and control of a turbine and generator. The model should have a hardware interface with the same type of signals that are found in a real power plant. This would then be used by Solvina for demonstrate the capabilities of our testing equipment as well as to train our engineers. The work will include programming of the power plant model as well as specifying hardware for interfacing with current and voltage signals. The person completing this thesis will gain great knowledge of the workings of a traditional power plant, from the dynamics and interaction with the power grid to the control system.
An exciting thesis work with a clear final result performed in a highly competent environment with expert areas such as electric power engineering, process and control engineering and engineering management. The thesis will be performed at our headquarters in Gothenburg.
