The Beach Maintenance, under the general supervision of the Beach Supervisor, performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work at Eastern Point Beach in the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

• Performs daily tasks such as sweeping, beach clean-up, light maintenance work, cleaning and maintenance of restrooms, emptying of garbage cans and painting.
• Promotes a professional and courteous image of the City of Groton.
• Follows all safety rules to include the use of personal protective equipment.
• Assists in maintaining a safe environment for members of the public.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Beach Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to perform general facilities and grounds maintenance tasks.

Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and members of the general public.

Ability to read and understand written instructions including safety warning labels.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Must be 15 years of age at start of program
.

A minimum of one (1) year experience in facilities maintenance and grounds maintenance is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job description, the individual is frequently required to talk and hear; required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms and stoop. The individual may occasionally be required to lift up to thirty (30) pounds. The employee is required to wear safety shoes as a condition of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is performed at the Beach and Parks facilities or outdoors in the elements of the weather.
