Corporate Advanced Production Engineering Supporting:
All SDV Business Unit Americas Region manufacturing sites. Primary responsibilities include investigating and developing new assembly processes, driving cost and efficiency improvements, and supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment at manufacturing sites. The role works closely with site Process Engineering (PE) teams and Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) to ensure a smooth, zero-defect (0 PPM) product launch.
Secondary responsibilities include preparing equipment and standard time (ST) quotations for new business opportunities, developing cost-effective and flexible assembly processes for low-volume and build-to-print products, and collaborating with Design Engineering (DE) to establish and maintain process Value Engineering/Validation (VEC) standards for both current and future products.
Responsibilities- Investigate and develop new assembly processes.
- Drive cost and efficiency improvements.
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment at manufacturing sites.
- Work closely with Site PE teams and CFTs to ensure zero-defect product launch.
- Prepare equipment and standard time quotations for new business opportunities.
- Develop cost-effective and flexible assembly processes for low-volume and build-to-print products.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to establish and maintain VEC standards for current and future products.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong initiative to complete project tasks on-time and in-budget.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong time management skills to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
- Ability to manage projects in a team environment.
- Solid Works 3‑D CAD modeling (or other CAD systems) experience.
- Programming capability (PLC/GLC, C++, VB, SQL, etc.).
- Experience with Surface Mount Technology Vision systems (Keyence, Cognex).
- Experience with process design.
- Experience with robotic applications.
- BS degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics or other engineering technology.
- 7+ years of engineering experience in automotive/manufacturing environment.
- Required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Travel for training and to support machine design and validation, customer/supplier/group company support, etc. will vary but should be < 30%.
