Job Summary
The State of Connecticut, Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) is seeking a detail‑oriented and adaptable Information Technology Analyst Trainee to support the Core‑CT Technology section of the Information Technology division. In this role, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting critical enterprise systems that serve state agencies across Connecticut, while building foundational skills in system administration, cloud infrastructure, and IT operations.
The Information Technology Analyst Trainee Program is a structured developmental program designed to prepare people to qualify for the target class of Information Technology Analyst 1. The program duration ranges from a minimum of one (1) year to a maximum of three (3) years, depending on a candidate’s prior experience and training. Upon successful completion of the program, incumbents must meet the required experience qualifications to advance to the target class.

- Has foundational experience or coursework in programming or scripting (e.g., SQL, Python, Java, Power Shell) and exposure to database concepts (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) or data analysis tools.
- Support the administration of Windows‑and Linux‑based systems hosted in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in support of the state’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Assist with server lifecycle activities, including server buildout and provisioning, system configuration and environment setup, and ongoing operational support and maintenance.
- Perform routine system administration tasks such as applying operating system and security patches, monitoring system performance and assisting with performance tuning, supporting system backup and recovery processes, and reviewing system logs and assisting with log analysis.
- Troubleshoot routine system, application, and infrastructure issues using established tools and procedures.
- Perform Active Directory account management, including user setup, access provisioning, and maintenance.
- Support cloud infrastructure management activities within OCI, including server sizing and resource allocation, storage management, Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) configuration, submitting and tracking DNS requests, and supporting data backup, replication, and disaster recovery process across regions.
- Participate in security and compliance activities, including assisting with implementation of security hardening measures, supporting Identity and Access Management (IAM) policy administration, and following established security protocols and standards.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform to assist in provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and issue resolutions to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
