Salary: $4,961 to $6,043 per month (SR 20, Step D to I)

• Independently develop, implement, and evaluate individualized educational plans for inmates confined in an adult correctional facility.
• Plan and conduct academic or vocational instruction for inmates.
• Assess inmates' progress and modify educational plans accordingly.
• Maintain records and prepare reports on inmate activities, participation, and progress.
• Collaborate with inmates, instructors, tutors, volunteers, community agencies, and businesses to provide educational services.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Legal Authorization to Work
  :
  Citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Prerequisite Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of human behavior and motivation, educational principles, instructional methods and materials, and report writing.
  • Ability to assess, plan, coordinate, carry out, and evaluate academic/vocational activities for inmates.
  • Ability to learn and apply legislative mandates and statutes related to inmate education, corrections education program activities, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain records and write reports of inmate activities and progress.
  • Ability to plan and conduct academic instruction and deal effectively with a variety of people and agencies.
• Basic Education
  :
  Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• General Experience
  :
  One and one-half years of progressively responsible professional teaching experience involving lesson planning, instruction, student assessment, and educational plan modification.
• Non-Qualifying Experience
  :
  Teaching of general interest subjects not requiring educational principles or assessment of student progress is not qualifying.
• Substitutions Allowed
  :
  Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
• Other Requirements
  :
  Conditional acceptance requires drug screening and an intensive background check.
• Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement
• No engagement in sexual abuse within any correctional or community confinement facility.
• No conviction of sexual activity with forced or unwilling victim.
• No civil or administrative adjudication of such conduct.
• No substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or harassment or resignation during pending investigation.
