Overview
Whole Foods Market is seeking a Career Development Associate Store Team Leader (Assistant Store Manager). The CDASTL role will complete a structured leadership training program to prepare for an Associate Store Team Leader. They will support store leadership in overseeing daily operations and retail execution, achieving store financial performance, meeting safety & food safety standards, coaching team members, administering performance management, and completing all required training.
ProgramRequirements
- Engage fully with all aspects of the CDASTL training program including weekly training assignments, operational learning path, peer cohort discussions, mentor discussions, team immersions, leadership meetings, trainings and the capstone project.
- Partner with mentor to create a personal growth plan and capstone project roadmap.
- Complete all curriculum assignments and the capstone project on time to remain on track and graduate from the program.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of store operations and merchandising processes.
- Oversee processes, programs and initiatives including merchandising, marketing, quality assurance, training and communications.
- Supervise daily operations and provide daily feedback to leaders and teams regarding sales, margin, labor, merchandising, training, sanitation, marketing and promotions.
- Drive decision‑making and team focus by applying a solid understanding of company operations and differentiation strategies.
- Drive exceptional customer service and maintain strong community relations.
- Analyze, compile and complete necessary financial reports.
- Build strong and supportive relationships with store and regional leadership.
- Demonstrate understanding of the interrelationships between various departments and functions.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of priorities, objectives and outcomes and share recommendations with decision‑makers.
- Achieve and maintain compliance with employment law, health & safety, food hygiene and weights & measures.
- Understand, communicate and lead on WFM Core Values, Leadership Principles and Declaration of Interdependence.
- Support Values in Action and maintain comprehensive product knowledge (Good Organics, Whole Trade, etc.).
Skills and Abilities
Required
- 2+ years of leadership experience in retail, culinary, hospitality or related industries.
- High‑performing manager or equivalent experience, preferably in retail or hospitality.
- Ability to drive results and support team members and team leaders to achieve high standards.
- Well‑rounded knowledge and application of all merchandising and retailing expectations.
- Critical thinking with a creative approach to problem solving.
- Excellent judgment and decision making.
- Strong communicator; ability to be precise, clear and convey enthusiasm.
- Ability to train and inspire excellence.
- Ability to delegate effectively.
- Well organized with excellent follow‑through.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office and all operations‑related applications.

The wage range for this position is $23.60–$42.50 hourly, commensurate with experience.
