Job Description & How to Apply Below

What To Expect Tesla is looking for a highly skilled Construction Superintendent who is passionate about our mission to join the North American R&D Infrastructure team. In this role, you will work closely with members of the Construction Management, Facility Engineering, Workplace/Operations teams, Design and Engineering, and various R&D Engineering teams from planning, through installation and the start of production. This team member will supervise all on-site construction, including scheduling of trade contractors, vendor tool installations, resolving day‑to‑day construction issues, coordinating inspections, and ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.

This role is responsible for overseeing and verifying the quality of the work performed by contractors or team members in the field. It requires extreme attention to detail, the ability to identify hard barriers, and to drive cross‑functional teams to execute quickly and safely. The environment is demanding and fast‑paced, so self‑motivation and self‑discipline are critical.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop execution plans and own detailed project schedules.
  • Drive fieldwork to ensure schedule adherence, escalating build/installation issues to management, planning installation logistics, communicating plans to involved parties, and tracking material deliveries.
  • Coordinate on‑site activities, including tool vendor coordination, base build construction, quality team coordination, and related engineering coordination. Coordinate downtime work during facility shutdowns, support operations, and lead constructability reviews of design packages.
  • Enforce quality for engineering drawings and field installations, resolve field issues, troubleshoot tool installs, and prioritize decision‑making for equipment turnover.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, organize job areas, ensure contractor safety, and supervise on‑site laborers while maintaining logs and providing progress reports, ensuring conformance to Tesla EHS and Workforce Management policies.
  • Support commissioning of new spaces with the internal Facilities Engineering team or third party.
  • Communicate effectively across various cross‑functional teams within Tesla, including Design, Facilities, Workplace, IT, EHS, Project Controls/Estimating, etc., to build relationships and ensure overall project alignment.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of construction experience for large‑scale or complex projects.
  • Understanding of construction design documents and ability to provide constructability feedback with working knowledge of building codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
  • OSHA 30 certification, First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling tools like MS Project and Planner; experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud for construction administration tasks.
  • Ability to execute several projects and tasks in parallel and prioritize critical tasks.
  • Travel up to 50% across the U.S. (primarily western half); willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field and to get hands dirty as needed to complete objectives or find the correct information.
Benefits
  • Medical plans with $0 payroll deduction.
  • Family‑building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits.
  • Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both with $0 paycheck contribution.
  • Company‑paid Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution when enrolled in a high‑deductible medical plan with HSA.
  • Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits.
  • Company‑paid Basic Life and AD&D insurance.
  • Short‑term and long‑term disability insurance (90‑day waiting period).
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Sick and vacation time (flex time for salaried positions, accrued hours for hourly positions), and paid holidays.
  • Backup childcare and parenting support resources.
  • Voluntary benefits, including critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft and legal services, and pet insurance.
  • Weight loss and tobacco cessation programs.
  • Tesla Babies program.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Employee discounts and perks program.
