Job Overview

We are hiring a Mental Health RN for the Crisis Intervention Center in Hays, Kansas. Position: CIC Registered Nurse (RN) (PRN). Pay starts at $35–$46 per hour based on experience.

• Conduct nursing assessments and monitor patient status throughout stay.
• Administer medications and monitor effects under psychiatric supervision.
• Use crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment.
• Support suicide prevention, seclusion/restraint protocols, and trauma‑informed practices.
• Document all clinical activity accurately and timely.
• Educate patients and families on mental health care and recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with physicians, APRNs, and the broader treatment team to ensure continuity of care.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and uphold patient dignity in all interactions.

• 21+ years old with current Kansas RN licensure (ADN or BSN).
• Preferred: at least one year of psychiatric nursing, crisis intervention, emergency care, or inpatient experience.
• Strong knowledge of behavioral health crisis care, psychiatric medications, and trauma‑informed care.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification (center provides).
• Pass required background checks (KBI, KDADS).
• Physically able to work in high‑pressure situations and respond to emergencies.
• Comply with TB testing and health screening protocols; pass pre‑employment drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license; MVR will be checked; no substance‑related driving offenses in past 5 years.

Shift: Working up to 28 hrs/wk on a PRN basis. Must work at least two 12‑hr shifts per month and sign up for more than two holidays per year.
