Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant to join our team at East Perry Elementary. The successful candidate will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality educational experiences to students. The Instructional Assistant will play a crucial role in fostering a positive learning environment, assisting with instructional activities, and helping to meet the diverse needs of students.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and concepts taught in class.
- Help maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Assist with classroom management and discipline as directed by the teacher.
- Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members regarding student progress and needs.
- Perform administrative tasks such as grading assignments, maintaining student records, and preparing reports as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Ability to follow directions and adapt to various instructional methods and strategies.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Knowledge of child development and learning processes is a plus.
- Must pass background checks and comply with all school district policies and procedures.
