* Implements health and safety programs at assigned locations which are aligned with the organizational safety management system.
* Implements ISO 14001 environmental management system where applicable.
* Coordinates and implements the application and training of safety rules, policies, and initiatives that help to create a safe workplace.
* Maintains OSHA logs, EHS records, and reporting for internal and external use.
* Manages environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives (hazardous waste, air emissions, water, obtaining and maintaining permits, etc.) directly and in coordination with external consultants for multiple facilities.
* Manages site activities with regulatory agencies to verify compliance, resolve situations, and maintain a cooperative working relationship.
* Escalates/reports potential violations and implements corrections as needed.
* Conducts frequent safety and environmental audits and takes immediate corrective action if required.
* Recommends and implements EHS related capital projects for supported facilities.
* Investigates workplace safety and environmental incidents through root cause analysis and partners with the operations team to implement corrective actions to correct problems and prevent future occurrences.
* Manages workers' compensation for supported facilities.
* Performs other duties as assigned, which may include leading projects of varying scale or scope.
Job Skills Requirements
* Advanced knowledge and understanding of applicable EHS regulations ensuring facility compliance with Federal government agencies (i.e. OSHA and EPA), local agencies, and safety regulatory requirements.
* Strong knowledge of manufacturing environment safety (i.e. industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machinery guards, interlock systems, industrial vehicle training, PPE, etc.).
* Experience in implementing comprehensive safety, environmental, and sustainability projects.
* Ability to investigate and define root cause, collect data, establish facts, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, data analysis and reporting tools, and other applicable applications.
* Ability to work independently to carry tasks/projects through to completion while meeting established deadlines.
Educational Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or related science disciplines, or equivalent education and experience.
Experience Requirements
* Seven years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
