Water Facilities Operator

Position Overview

Water Facilities Operator I – Department of Utilities, City of Henderson.

Under general supervision, perform semi‑skilled and skilled work in the inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment used in the distribution, storage, and disinfection of raw and potable water systems. Perform related duties as assigned.

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in maintenance of mechanical equipment, pumps, motors, valves, analyzers, piping, and/or buildings.
• Equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered.
• Valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license per NRS 483.
• Must possess a minimum of a Grade I Operator‑In‑Training Certification in Water Distribution, Water Treatment, or Wastewater Treatment, or a Grade I Restricted Certification in Wastewater Collections.
• Within twelve (12) months of hire, obtain a Grade I Water Distribution Certification or higher.
• Within twelve (12) months of hire, obtain a Grade I Plant Maintenance Technologist certification.
• Complete assigned training courses through the City’s learning management system.
• Obtain all required licenses and certificates at own expense.
• Maintain certificates and licenses in good standing for continued employment.
• Desirable:
  Experience in water treatment and/or water distribution.

• Completed Employment Application.
• Current Grade I Operator‑In‑Training Certification (or Grade I Restricted Certification).
• Current Grade I Water Distribution Certification if applicable.
• Current Grade I Plant Maintenance Technologist certification if applicable.

External candidates, probationary full‑time, part‑time, and temporary city employees who meet the criteria will start at the entry level of the salary range.
