Position Summary:
Prepare masters by sanding and applying release agents in various stages until completed.
- Conditions and reconditions molds for fabrications of hull, deck and small parts.
- Ensures overall quality of the produced part including inspecting molds and noting defects for repair.
- Typically requires a high school education and some prior related lamination work experience or auto body repair experience.
- Must be willing to work off schedule conditions to recondition molds which could include weekend work.
- A minimum of 1 year of related boat building experience required; 3 years fiberglass lamination experience preferred.
- Performs PI Work.
- Ability to audit departmental work areas.
- Ability to get department inspection and buy-offs.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Ability to read and understand Job Description s, Blue Prints, Production Schedule and Construction Records.
- Ability to work in a dusty and a hot environment.
- Repairing high and low spots, straightening radii and spraying gelcoat patches.
- Auto Body Experience is a plus.
- Preparing area for textured surfaces and examining area for defects.
- Works with CAD and Design for Non‑skid and texture layouts on masters.
- Communication Skills.
- Computer Knowledge.
- Hand Tool and Power Tool Knowledge.
- High School Education or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and disposal.
- Strong Record Keeping Abilities.
- Knowledge of procedures, instructions, and documents as it relates to the quality system.
- Strong Written and Verbal Skills.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Must possess the desire and ambition to work safely at all times and report all hazards to their Supervisor immediately.
- Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, etc.
- Must be able to understand and complete the OSHA questionnaire, pass spirometer test and physically wear a respirator where required.
- Must be able to physically handle the requirements of the job, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, mitigating inside of molds, spending working hours on your feet, etc.
- Must be able to understand all safety related documents and worksite rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and Individual Safety Commitment.
The anticipated pay range for this position is $21.22 to $25.80 hourly.
