The Functional Test Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development of functional test processes and equipment required for manufacturing, in coordination with design engineering, to demonstrate compliance of Honda Aircraft Company products.
This role partners with Design Engineering during product development to ensure compliance with design requirements, develop efficient test processes, define tooling and support equipment, and implement improvements to functional test operations throughout manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities Functional Test Process Development- Plan and document functional test processes, tooling, equipment, and quality control methods
- Optimize functional test operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with HACI standards
- Verify that all tasks are completed and inspected per established procedures
- Develop documentation and procedures to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and production requirements
- Address functional test issues related to materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling
- Review and approve Engineering Functional Test Procedures (FTP) and rigging documentation
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of all test-related documentation
- Identify and approve tooling requirements for functional tests
- Create tooling requests and coordinate procurement, receipt, and acceptance
- Prepare and update production functional test planning
- Maintain BOM configuration and control
- Interpret engineering documents and specifications to ensure functional test requirements are met
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering or related field
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specification requirements
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and test equipment
- Strong mechanical and airframe technical support experience including installation, repair, and fabrication
- Ability to analyze engineering data to support company objectives
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience working in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
- Exposure to equipment noise, temperature variations, dust, and aircraft systems
- Physical activity including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance equipment where required
- Must follow all FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company safety regulations
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Must follow safety protocols and management direction at all times
