Primary Function The Director of Technology and Innovation provides leadership for the District’s technology systems, digital learning environment, and innovation efforts, in support of teaching and learning and organizational effectiveness. The Director oversees the Technology Services Department and collaborates with district and building leaders to ensure technology is reliable, secure, instructionally meaningful, and aligned with the District’s mission, vision, and goals.

This role supports both the operational health of district technology systems and the thoughtful integration of technology into classroom instruction and professional practice.

Strategic Leadership
  • Establish a clear and compelling direction for District technology and innovation efforts to support student success.
  • Lead the planning, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the District Technology Plan.
  • Design and implement revisions to the plan that align with district priorities, instructional goals, and state and federal requirements.
  • Assess district technology needs and identify opportunities to improve systems, services, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Serve as a thought partner to district and building leaders on the effective use of technology to support teaching, learning, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Guide the District in balancing innovation with reliability, sustainability, security, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of Technology Services staff, including clear direction, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Prioritize the technology staff’s work and oversee project management for department initiatives.
  • Establish clear expectations, workflows, and service standards to support district priorities.
Instructional Technology and Innovation Leadership
  • Provide leadership to ensure current trends, best practices, and innovative uses of technology are thoughtfully embedded into instruction throughout the district.
  • Promote the effective application of technology in classrooms to support diverse learners and maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with curriculum leaders, principals, instructional staff, and technology personnel to support the selection, implementation, and evaluation of instructional technology tools and digital resources.
  • Support district innovation efforts by researching emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, evaluating potential instructional applications, and recommending tools and practices aligned to district priorities.
  • Evaluate, maintain, and support the District’s 1:1 device program and related systems.
  • Participate regularly as a contributing member of the district and, as appropriate, build leadership structures.
  • Maintain active participation in professional organizations, consortia, seminars, and conferences related to educational technology and innovation.
Professional Learning and User Support
  • Provide leadership and professional learning opportunities to support effective technology use by teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  • Collaborate with district and building leaders to ensure technology‑related professional development is practical, relevant, and aligned with district expectations.
  • Promote adoption of district technologies through training, coaching, communication, and support resources.
  • Develop procedures, operating guides, and other documentation necessary for the efficient and effective use of district technology systems and tools.
  • Lead staff and student education around responsible AI use, academic integrity, and the ethical considerations of AI in educational settings.
  • Support a service‑oriented culture within the Technology Services Department that prioritizes responsiveness, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Systems, Infrastructure, and Technical Operations
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the Technology Services Department.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of district technology services, including network infrastructure, software applications, end‑user devices, and student and staff technology support.
