Position Overview
Individual shall perform various duties in and around the job site which include, but are not limited to:
General Laboring, operating various pieces of equipment including drill, bolter, scaler, loader, excavator, and performing maintenance.
- Detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
- Maintain and safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including Haul Tuck, Water Truck, Dump Truck, Track Hoe, Frontend Loader, drill, bolter, scaler, and Skid Steer Loader.
- Understand and follow directions.
- Work in an underground mine.
- Assist with miscellaneous duties such as general labor, shoveling, performing necessary equipment maintenance, and assisting foreperson/crew members as requested by the Plant Manager, Superintendent, or Foreperson.
- Assist with the daily operations and upkeep of the underground mine.
- Clean up around the mine, equipment, and surrounding area.
- General understanding of OSHA & MSHA regulations.
- Perform general maintenance on the equipment.
- Work various shifts as necessary, including both day and night shift hours.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
- Strictly adhere to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Maintain timely and regular attendance; employees are held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
- Show willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and ExperienceLess than or equal to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Personal Protective EquipmentIndividuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required includes, but is not limited to, welding gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, padlocks for lockout/tagout, safety (hard‑toe) shoes, seatbelt, and harnesses when required.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic mathematical skills.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical and Vision RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to sit, climb, or balance. Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee must regularly lift and/or move around 25 pounds and may also have to move over 50 pounds with equipment assistance.
