Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Customer Service Rep
The Team Member is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives and performing assigned tasks, while delivering a Legendary Customer Experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)As a Team Member, you must be available, flexible, adaptable and service-oriented. You must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Deliver on our promise of Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
- Greet the Customer.
- Uncover Customer’s Needs & Wants.
- Recommend Product Solutions.
- Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
- Perform a combination of the following duties during 95% of the day. The mix may vary day to day, but every Team Member must perform all duties accurately, efficiently and safely on a regular basis:
- Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures.
- Recovery of merchandise.
- Participate in mandatory freight process.
- Complete Plan‑o‑gram procedures (merchandising, sets, and resets).
- Assemble merchandise.
- Perform janitorial duties.
- Execute price changes/markdowns.
- Operate Forklift (unless under the age of 18).
- Operate Cardboard Baler (unless under the age of 18).
- Assist customers with loading purchases.
- Ensure the customer has a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of birds. Sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
- Complete all documentation associated with any of the above duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
No experience required. Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Regardless of education level, Team Members must be able to read, write and count accurately.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills or Abilities- Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
- Indoor and outdoor lot environment, moderate noise, hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.), adequate lighting and temperature.
- Shift lengths vary; typically no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.
- Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 2,000 pounds with proper equipment.
- Lift or reach merchandise overhead occasionally.
- Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
- Move throughout the store for an entire shift.
- Access all areas of the store safely.
- Operate and use all necessary equipment (dolly, hand truck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register).
- Constantly operate store equipment such as computer and cash register.
- Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
- Use strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Process information/merchandise through the point‑of‑sale system.
- Handle contact with birds/poultry.
- Complete required training and certification.
- Dispense propane and have propane certification (if applicable).
