Position: LEAD WATER PLANT MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (WS-11) [2 vacancies]

Supervises and participates in the installation, repair, maintenance and overhaul of a variety of water pumping plant and related water systems equipment; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancies
:
There are two (2) vacancies with theHonolulu Board of Water Supply, Water System Operations Division.

Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. The position is responsible for supervising and participating in the installing, testing, overhauling, repairing and maintaining of pumping plant and water system equipment, machinery and instruments such as: deepwell turbine pumps and motors, horizontal centrifugal pumps and motors, automatic valves, chlorinators and limefeeders, flow recorders and meters, water level recorders and meters, pressure/suction vacuum gages and recorders, hydraulic systems, ventilating and cooling equipment, piping systems, cable cars, etc.

With general instructions from a higher level supervisor, supervises and participates in simple and routine installation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of plant electrical and electronic control devices, electrical systems, air conditioning equipment and appliances, and wiring devices pertaining to pumping plants, water treatment plants, water storage facilities, office buildings and other type of buildings and structures.

Working Conditions:

High voltage electricity, heavy machinery, chlorine gas, moving machinery, working on scaffolds. The various equipment may be located underground in basements, manholes, vaults, shafts, and pump rooms; above ground on building and reservoir roofs; and remote locations which may require walking or working on uneven terrain.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show demonstrated competence in performing the journey level duties of a Water Plant Maintenance Mechanic.

(A Water Plant Maintenance Mechanic performs journey level work in installing, testing, overhauling, repairing and maintaining pumping plants and water systems equipment, machinery and instruments.)

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (automobile/Type
3), prior to appointment.
