Job Description
The Data Center Construction organization at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is rapidly expanding to deliver gigawatt‑scale campuses that power Oracle’s global cloud network. Within this organization, the telecommunications Infrastructure team designs and implements the structured cabling, security, AV, BMS/controls, and related systems that form the digital nervous system of OCI’s data centers. As a Principal Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority and delivery leader, driving design integration, installation execution, and vendor performance management of OCI’s telecommunications systems worldwide.
LocationBased in the El Paso, TX/Las Cruces, NM area. Relocation assistance is available for candidates who can relocate permanently to the area.
Responsibilities- Serve as the design and construction subject‑matter expert for bulk fiber and structured cabling systems, defining and enforcing technical standards, design guidelines, and installation specifications for OCI’s global campus builds.
- Review and approve vendor designs, submittals, and testing packages to ensure full compliance with OCI standards.
- Manage low‑voltage vendors responsible for installation, testing, and commissioning across multiple GW‑scale concurrent projects, tracking scope, schedule, and cost performance.
- Lead the change‑order process, validating scope impacts, pricing accuracy, and alignment with project budget and commercial terms.
- Coordinate vendor procurement, resource planning, and delivery sequencing to support aggressive global build schedules.
- Serve as the technical and delivery lead for GPU‑intensive data hall builds, managing low‑voltage integration for liquid‑cooled rack systems at hyperscale.
- Partner with internal design, hardware, and construction teams to ensure low‑voltage systems are fully integrated into data hall and base‑building infrastructure.
- Develop and oversee testing, certification, and QA/QC procedures for low‑voltage systems.
- Introduce prefabrication strategies, modularization, and digital field tools to accelerate low‑voltage delivery.
- Act as the primary low‑voltage liaison between OCI’s engineering, construction, and operations organizations, providing executive‑level reporting on vendor performance and risks.
- Coordinate cross‑functional readiness for rack deployment, ensuring all low‑voltage systems are fully validated prior to hardware installation.
- Deep technical expertise in low‑voltage systems: structured cabling, BMS, AV, security, and controls.
- Proven experience managing vendor‑delivered installation programs, including cost control, schedule adherence, and change management.
- Strong understanding of data center design and construction from concept through commissioning.
- Ability to manage complex vendor relationships and drive results through technical and commercial influence.
- Skilled in interpreting drawings, specifications, and QA/QC documentation.
- Excellent communication skills across executive, engineering, and field audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (RCDD, CTS, PMP, LEED) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience delivering low‑voltage or mission‑critical infrastructure projects globally.
- Execution‑focused with a balance of technical depth and commercial acumen.
- Adept at managing vendor performance through data‑driven accountability.
- Highly collaborative and solutions‑oriented, able to lead without direct reports.

Hiring range: $70,600 – $141,200 per year, with potential eligibility for bonus and equity.
