What You Will Do- Act as an Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Manager for the Lansing, MI sites, ensuring compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.
- Lead a team of safety professionals and waste technicians.
- Partner in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures, including program management.
- Manage multiple EH&S specialties and perform tasks related to health/safety and environmental/compliance.
- Coordinate with business partners for EH&S concerns regarding facilities and employee practices, potentially including medical responsibilities at the site.
- Organize and maintain EH&S policies to achieve standards and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Manage cross‑departmental relationships to achieve compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.
- Own the execution of the long‑term strategy (>3 years) and operational direction for a modest‑sized business.
- Focus on tactical and operational plans with short‑to‑medium term focus (1‑2 years).
- Influence others outside your job area concerning policies, practices, and procedures.
- Implement initiatives that drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
- Conduct in‑depth analysis of environmental opportunities to determine environmental compliance.
- Collaborate with sites to define controls for the EH&S program to maintain policies.
- Assess EH&S impacts; develop and implement programs to reduce risk while achieving compliance; manage environmental permits and reporting criteria.
- Establish and track plans to maintain compliance and reduce risk.
- Lead audits of the EH&S management system across factories and service locations.
- Lead communication of global EH&S initiatives and performance to EH&S professionals and upper‑level management.
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relative EH&S experience, or an advanced degree with 10+ years of relative EH&S experience.
- Experience leading a safety team and waste technicians.
- Track record in EH&S program management and specialized EH&S areas.
- Strong knowledge of EH&S regulations, local/state/federal requirements, and environmental permitting.
- Ability to coordinate with cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders.
- Management experience in a union environment.
- Experience working with a wide range of employees, providing leadership when required to meet aggressive goals.
- Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of factory equipment, manufacturing, field safety and EH&S management systems.
- Adaptability to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of compliance with local/state/federal regulations regarding air, storm water, wastewater, and hazardous waste.
- Additional certifications such as CSP, CIH, P.E., or CHMM strongly preferred.
USD 157,200 – 298,800, depending on experience.
