Position Summary
This role serves as a data engineer, analyst, and strategic partner supporting Product Strategy and related business units. In a lean credit union environment, this position is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining core datasets and data pipelines, enabling reliable reporting, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision‑making across the organization. The role partners closely with Product Strategy, Branch, Consumer Lending and other stakeholders to translate complex data into actionable insights that enhance operational performance and member satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Functions
- Designs, builds, and maintains curated, analytics‑ready datasets and automated data pipelines, integrating data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy, integrity, consistency, and scalability for reporting and advanced analytics.
- Designs, develops, and maintains dashboards and data visualizations that communicate business performance and trends clearly, ensuring usability, accuracy, and consistency for stakeholders.
- Builds and maintains KPI reporting and self‑service analytics solutions that enable stakeholders to track business metrics, monitor performance, and answer recurring operational questions independently.
- Performs ad hoc, in‑depth, and exploratory analyses to investigate business questions, evaluate initiatives, and support operational improvements and strategic decision‑making.
- Partners with cross‑functional teams (marketing, product development, finance, digital solutions, and operations) to identify data‑driven opportunities, translate business needs into analytics solutions, and support strategic initiatives.
- Contributes analytical and technical expertise to the development of department goals, objectives, strategic plans, and organizational programs and services.
- Resolves moderately to complex business and data‑related problems by evaluating data, assessing alternative approaches, and recommending effective, practical solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Maintains clear and comprehensive documentation of data sources, data models, pipelines, analysis methodologies, and reporting assets to support reproducibility, continuity, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensures all analytics and data engineering work complies with credit union policies, data governance standards, privacy requirements, and applicable regulations, safeguarding sensitive information.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Ability to design, build, and maintain reusable, analytics‑ready datasets and views using SQL or comparable data querying and transformation tools.
- Understanding of structured and relational data concepts, including tables, keys, joins, aggregations, and common data quality issues.
- Knowledge of how analytics‑ready datasets are designed and maintained, including principles of reusability, scalability, metric consistency, and downstream reporting needs.
- Proven skill in developing dashboards and visual analytics that clearly communicate KPIs, trends, and insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in business, mathematics, computer science, economics, statistics, or related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in banking, or other data analyst roles.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Understanding of core analytics concepts such as KPIs, metrics, dimensional modeling, and the role of data in supporting operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear metrics, analyses, dashboards, and self‑service reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to evaluate data, assess alternative approaches, and recommend practical, data‑driven solutions.
