Job SummaryFor an assigned security shift, the incumbent directly manages Security Officers, parking attendants, and contract labor in their daily operations to ensure exceptional guest service and maintain a safe and secure environment at the Convention Center. The role involves adherence to all guidelines set forth by management, accurate reporting of incidents, and demonstration of a professional, positive, and friendly demeanor that reflects Hawai‘i Convention Center’s ‘Aloha’ spirit.
Responsibilities- Supervise staff and shift operations: manage security officers, parking attendants, traffic control officers, elevator operators, HPD Special Duty staff, cashiers, and other contract labor; ensure proper uniforms, equipment, and training.
- Conduct daily briefings to inform staff of security operations, events, and traffic.
- Monitor, update, and approve hourly employee timesheets, ensuring accurate payroll and awareness of overtime.
- Conduct performance evaluations, schedule meetings with the Manager or Human Resources to review performance, and recommend disciplinary action or termination when necessary.
- Assign staff to investigate incidents, prepare accurate reports, edit, and finalize all documentation per department protocol.
- Inspect the security base at irregular intervals, ensure compliance with security processes, and schedule relief coverage during meal and rest periods.
- Patrol assigned locations of the building, grounds, and perimeter to protect property from damage, theft, and vandalism.
- Execute building lockdown procedures, secure gates, lobby, meeting rooms, and other critical areas.
- Prepare parking lot for events, barricade sections as needed, shut down lights, patrol and inspect parking lot equipment, and maintain logs of inspections and repairs.
- Investigate suspicious persons and report unsafe conditions immediately to management.
- Serve as a greeter for incoming event attendees, providing an ‘Aloha welcome’ and assistance.
- Ensure traffic operating plans are followed, direct traffic control, and provide customer service to patrons.
- Assist in emergency evacuations, crisis drills, and true emergency scenarios; administer CPR/First Aid as needed.
- Oversee cash handling operations, prepare money banks, authorize building access, and maintain accurate monetary records.
- High School Diploma or its equivalency.
- Minimum 3years of related work experience.
- Must be able to lift up to 25pounds and maintain an extended stationary position for the entire shift (8–10hours).
- State of Hawai‘i Board of Private Security Certification.
- Must be able to operate ticket settlement machinery, calculator, and various point‑of‑sale devices.
- First Aid Certification / CPR.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and with security and transportation processes.
- Excellent customer service, listening, and communication skills with the ability to resolve and de‑escalate situations.
- Ability to work varied shifts, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and additional hours as venue schedule requires.
- Able to proficiently operate life‑safety systems and maintain solid knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Competitive salary range of $60,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience.
