Accountant, Accounting Manager, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections

Description

Our client, a growing organization in the non-profit space located in Downtown Houston, is seeking a Staff Accountant on a contract-to-hire basis. This opportunity comes at an exciting time as the accounting team prepares to take on a newly acquired entity, creating strong long-term growth potential for the right individual.

This is a fully on-site role with a collaborative team environment, where each accountant owns their respective entities while working closely together as a group.

Key Responsibilities

+ Perform full-cycle accounting for assigned entities

+ Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

+ Support month-end close, including reconciliations and journal entries

+ Handle grant billing activities and reporting

+ Process and manage HUD and government billing requirements

+ Maintain accurate financial records using Quick Books Online and Excel

+ Assist with transitioning newly acquired entities into internal accounting processes

Requirements

2-3+ years of accounting experience (non-profit experience strongly preferred)

Hands-on experience with:

+ Full-cycle accounting

+ AP/AR

+ Grant accounting/billing

+ Government or HUD billing (highly preferred)

Proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Adaptable, collaborative, and professional demeanor

No degree required

Work Environment & Culture

+ All team members are on-site daily (parking provided)

+ Each accountant is responsible for their own entities but works closely with the broader team

+ Team-oriented, stable environment with a preference for individuals who are:

+ Detail-oriented and meticulous

+ Easy to work with and collaborative in nature

+ Team participates in distribution efforts every 3rd Saturday
