This role is ideal for a seasoned project controls professional who thrives in a small-team environment and can wear multiple hats while supporting rapid-paced energy projects for high-demand commercial and industrial customers.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Planning
- Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities into a cohesive, resource-loaded schedule.
- Monitor progress, identify schedule variances, and recommend corrective actions or recovery plans.
- Prepare weekly and monthly schedule updates, look-ahead plans, and critical path analyses.
- Collaborate with construction teams to validate field progress, sequencing, and activity durations.
- Maintain schedule baselines and ensure all changes are properly documented.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost control systems.
- Track actual costs, commitments, and expenditures across all project phases.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, cash-flow projections, and variance analyses for leadership.
- Support development of estimates, change orders, and financial impact assessments.
- Monitor cost trends, risks, and deviations, providing recommendations to maintain budget alignment.
- Maintain accurate cost coding structures and ensure proper allocation of costs to work packages.
- Ensure alignment between schedule forecasts and cost performance metrics.
- Support earned value analysis and integrated project reporting.
- Provide clear, data-driven insights to project managers and leadership to support decision-making.
- Assist with project closeout, final cost reporting, and lessons-learned documentation.
- 10+ years of experience in project controls, including scheduling and cost control responsibilities.
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 and full Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Construction experience required; experience in power, industrial, or energy infrastructure strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of EPC project life cycles, construction sequencing, and cost drivers.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a small, fast-paced project environment with multiple active projects.
- Hybrid work schedule will be initially utilized, but may change in the future. Office location will be in the Houston Energy corridor area.
