Job Summary

Shambaugh & Son L.P. is looking for a Fire Alarm / Special Hazards Designer. The role involves designing fire alarm detection and special hazard type systems for various construction projects, including clean agent, CO2, and VESDA suppression systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design and layout fire alarm detection and clean agent suppression systems.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and schematics required to support the installation of fire alarm systems.
  • Maintain project drawing files, associate records, and documentation tracking.
  • Timely completion and processing of required paperwork.
  • Help improve the design department.
  • Promote safety to the team members on their projects.
  • Assist project estimator with project cost and change order issues.
  • Planning, scheduling, and project management of the projects.
  • Quality design & layout of fire alarm & releasing systems.
  • Self-development and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, electrical engineering, or a technical or business discipline preferred, or equivalent experience. Degree can be replaced with a minimum of 5‑year experience in the fire alarm industry.
  • Good computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other software programs.
  • High electrical & mechanical interest.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi‑task.
  • Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
  • Must be organized and self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
